Pansies problems!

Fairly new to gardening. We got some planters built in summer and for the first time I planted some winter pansies. What is happening (see photo)? I have slug pellets out but some in a high up
hanging basket have suffered the same fate. Any solutions please?

Your providing food for some wild creatures! Be happy about that; it's what nature is all about.

Doesn’t look like slug damage. So unlikely to be devastating.

If you do get. slug damage, violas tend to be more resistant than pansies in my opinion
