Pumpkins & Slugs

I’ve grown two pumpkins in grow bags and I think one is ready to be picked. However, it’s getting eaten by tiny slugs. If I pick my pumpkin how can I get these slugs out without damaging the flesh? I was hoping it would “keep” for awhile and not need to be used straight away.

Any thoughts?

Put it in a bucket of salted water maybe? Although if they’ve eaten into it It may fill up!

I’ve been back out to it and I think it’s a goner! Slug have gorged themselves to the point of no return. Sad

Sadly I think you need to pick it regardless of readiness to pick as soon as you notice any slug damage at all, and damaged pumpkins will not then keep. Sorry you've lost this one - I've also lost one this season to the slimy fuckers. It's crap isn't it?

Yeah it’s a bit disappointing as I only have two fruits! Ah well, I will try again next year! Thanks for the replies!
