Just going to chuck these seeds out willy nilly

I have done the whole pricking out thing and quite frankly, I have neither the time nor the space right now, but I want foxgloves and snapdragons, and DS picked calendula.

The foxgloves say sow outdoors April to July. The snapdragons say sow indoors. The calendula does actually say sow outdoors August/September sow should be fine.

Any thoughts?

My calendula has happily seeded itself willy nilly. My mother's foxgloves did the same (so I have not introduced it here.) Snapdragon should be fine, too. The worst that happens is they don't come up.

Cool! My last garden was communal so I didn't spend much, and I used to save the seeds from foxgloves and a couple of other things and scatter them. It doesn't sit right to spend much on them.

I've never had any success with packet foxglove seeds. If yours don't come up (remember they're biennials so usually flower in their second year) then get a couple of plants and let them self seed. They're usually quite cheap or you may be able to get seedlings from a friend. I've loads of them now.

These claim to flower in their first year, but I'll keep impressed if they do.

If the foxgloves are Digitalis purpurea and not some other species, then they're a UK wild flower, so should cope OK.

Ah, they are. The apricot coloured ones looked so pretty, maybe just as well I played it safe.
