Climbers on front of house?

Looking for recommendations and/or advice please.

I love the idea of a climber on the front of my house, I just generally love the look that it gives off. I'm a total novice gardener (read: "no idea what I'm doing") but have lots of roses, hydrangeas and peonies in my front garden that I've kept alive.

Is there a reason why I shouldn't get a climber? Or if not, which one should I get? I'd prefer something evergreen, possibly that flowers in the summer. I've got a massive pot and trellis already going up the wall. It's a SW facing wall that gets plenty of sun. Pot is by the front door so would like to avoid thorns really.

TIA

Star jasmine? Pretty hardy and easy to grow, evergreen, no thorns, beautiful scent.

You need a VERY big pot for a climber, and feed it well.

There are also nice evergreen honeysuckle and clematis but I can't remember specific names. Look carefully at the max height of the plant and don't get something that wants to grow 5m high.
