Will my salix flamingo tree be okay I brutally prune now?

I have a salix flamingo tree whose branches are a bit out of contol.

It looks a mess and is stopping other things taking off around it. So I want to prune it right back, like right back!

I know the best time to brutally prune is spring but I can't wait that long! Please reassure me that I won't do horrible damage if I cut the branches back to about 1/4 of their current spread in the next couple of weeks...

Thank you!!

I'm about to drastically cut mine back for the same reasons, it's a willow, they're virtually impossible to kill!
