What colour to paint my new garden fence?

I've just had a new garden fence fitted and I fancy painting it one of these darker colours that have become very fashionable but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough! Has anyone else tried this? Apparently painting it a dark colour helps makes it 'disappear', and as my garden is wide and shallow, and also slopes towards the house the fence at the far end is very prominent, even with planting in front of it. If you've tried it and liked it could you tell me what shades you used? TIA!

I think new fences look amazing when they’re painted a dark colour. I would love to do this, but mine is old, warping and has next door’s ivy growing through and over it, so no chance. Can’t offer paint colour suggestions sorry!

Our fence at the bottom of the garden is painted black and it’s so nice. It’s not a panelled fence but a three bar one but even so I’m so glad I did it

I've painted mine black, I was wary at first as it's a strong colour, but designers recommend it to blend into the background, and I have to say it does. I have a cottage garden rather than contemporary too.

For those that have painted their fences - what do you do about the other side if it adjourns other neighbours? Do you just paint your own side?

We went for very dark brown and it looks really good. Far less obvious than the silvered wood it was before.

Also has anyone painted their fence a light grey or sage? Interested in how it wears?

Pictures would be great for inspiration for coloured fences if anyone has them.

Mine is silver copse, some kind of duck back stuff. It looks dark grey not silver. You just paint your own side, to the poster who asked.

Mine is Urban Slate. I do have plans to grow things up it/in front of it but haven't got that far yet.
