Neighbours have just changed their fence, it’s the one at the back of my garden so don’t know these neighbours, the fence is ok height but the top bit is that trellis thing and as we are on a hill it means they can see into mine as my house and garden slope down, I don’t want to attach anything to the fence as obviously it isn’t mine I have some trees at the back is there anything I can attach to them so they can’t see in? Or any other ideas?

Plant some Laurel, not as a continuous hedge, but two or three they branch out. They are easily pruned to height as the new growth, although quick to grow is very soft.
I have just spent 5 days cutting back several Laurels, at our house on a hill so my neighbour has a view.

I doubt they can really see through. How high is the solid part?

PumpkinKlNG · 01/08/2021 18:53

They can cos it’s on a slope, I can see into theirs a bit but not as bad due to mine being the one sloping down, So they will see into mine more privacy is important to me. It’s 5 ft

Bamboo trees in pots. Very affective very quickly. About 20 quid a 6 foot tree..

In your case, you can plant a hedge, for example from Tui, or still install your own fence, you can calculate the cost on a calculator knockfence.com/wood-fence-calculator-and-gate-cost-in-houston-tx/

Is there any way you could attach your own trellis just to the top bit and add weed control fabric to the back of it so they cant see through?

You can’t attach anything to someone else’s fence without their permission

Cheap = laurel but will take a few years to get to the height you want
More expensive pleached laurel/photina
While waiting for growth put trampoline down the bottom of the garden

You could try planting closer to your house & this would obscure the view from the downstairs quicker
