Great excitement at Pandiculation Manor as we wait for my Queen of the Night cactus to flower (note to NantheWiser - it's not the Selinocereus, it's Harrisia bonplandii). It has three buds, and two of them have started to elongate, and are currently 8cm long. I don't think it will open tonight, but hopefully tomorrow we will be able to watch as over the course of the evening the bud will grow to 25 cm or more, and then open to a white scented flower 20cm across. It'll flower for the night, and then die next morning.
With luck, the flowers will be followed by fruit the size of a large tomato, pinky red, later splitting open to reveal black seeds nestling in a white pith.
