Beetroot disaster!

I planted them too close...

I pulled them up today and they have made small beetroot carrots.

I have transplanted them with correct spacing this time but will they actually grow out into globes now or do I need to pull them and re seed..?

If you haven't damaged the roots and they survive the transplanting, they'll go on storing food in their roots until the end of the season, and the roots will swell' (Hot weather or the shock of the move may cause them to bolt, ie use all the stored energy in the root to put up a flower shoot.)

If you do decide to ditch them, the leaves make an acceptable spinach substitute.

Some beetroot varieties have long cylindrical roots
