Raspberry growing out of blueberry bush???

I got this blueberry bush last autumn and put it in a container. This spring new leaves appeared at the base and now there is a spiky/hairy stem and lots of leaves. Is it a raspberry cane that has somehow smuggled itself in with the bush?

If so I would be happy but would be hard to separate them right? Should I just keep chopping the stem back to give blueberries the best chance?

Thnx

Ooh. Fruit salad Grin

It definitely looks raspberry like, but the leaves are maybe a bit more robust, maybe loganberry.

Definitely separate it as it will probably be happy anywhere but the blueberry won’t appreciate it being there.

I have raspberry canes near my blueberry bushes (blueberries are quite young) and I just dig them out. The canes just grow everywhere, but at least I planted mine! The raspberries do really well and are so easy, but the blueberries need more tending I think - I put Ericaceous compost around the base every spring and water with rainwater. They don’t produce a huge crop but the children like having them. Whereas we get loads of raspberries with barely any tending to them.

Are you sure it’s not a wild bramble?
I get loads of the buggers seeding everywhere.

Ok, operation successful. The raspberry, loganberry, bramble whatever it is has been put in another pot so we wait to see. Hope I have rescued something tasty and interesting
