We just love it. That drained glass greenhouse😍although Dh snorted into his tea when I suggested he knock one up for me.

Also love Small Magical Gardens on Instagram. Any other recommendations?

Love it! We’ve booked a visit next month.

Love the show. All three presenters are so very knowledgeable and likeable. Poppy is just fantastic, I love how she presents the science of what's going on in a really understandable way. I think it's one of the best most accessible gardening programmes.

Damn, I thought you meant the one about the new RHS Garden. But that’s the other one.

Garden revolution is the one with the houseboat person who was on Gardeners World last year, right? Also very good.

I clearly watch too many gardening programmes!

I also follow Small Magical Gardens on insta - and Gardenplanning

Yes Poppy had her houseboat garden featured on GW! The other gardener with his bohemian shed with green roof terrace has been on GW before as well I’m sure. I remember thinking does he have planning permission for using it as a ‘raised platform’!

It’s fun but another garden makeover show at the end of the day.....I’d really love to see a ‘real gardens’ show where it’s not just swoop in and fix it all in one go and openly address the budgets.

I'm not sure if Joel was on GW but he was on Your Garden Made Perfect.
I'm not so keen on the woodwork projects. They appear almost fully formed with little explanation as to how they are made - he mutters something about 2by4 and waves around his battery screwdriver and that's it. You are given no idea of how to recreate it at home.

LemonViolet · 26/05/2021 07:55

I was sure I’ve seen a feature where he was interviewed about his shed and sitting up on his roof, like I said because I remember thinking it breached ‘raised platform’ planning laws! Lovely idea but not fair to be overlooking your neighbours’ private spaces!

I guess there’s just not enough time to go into detailed instruction on every item they make. You can imagine a YouTube instruction video on that wine bottle bird feeder alone would be 20-30mins probably.

Does anyone feel more like buying Ronseal products after watching btw Grin?

I remember that, too. Perhaps it was GW. I think the idea was that, raised up, he could see through a chink in the houses around him to a view of the sea.

Love it! Poppy went to my kids school so we were told she was going to be on GW and then were so pleased she got TGR. After doing modelling she trained with the RHS as a horticulturalist, I love that she keeps her hair natural, what a fab role model she is.

TheReturnOfTheMaud · 26/05/2021 09:07

To me, the programme isn’t at all revolutionary because it’s Ground Force remade for the 2020s. I love the woodwork, though - he’s a true craftsman.

My favourite tv gardening show of the moment is Gardening with Carol Klein on channel 5.

Yes he was on GW last year with his own vid he posted in, around the same time Poppy was.
I hadn't considered planning laws re.his raised platform. It looks amazing but yes, could be off-putting for the neighbours it overlooks.

TheReturnOfTheMaud · 27/05/2021 14:42

Yes, both J and P were in the readers’ gardens segment of Gardeners’ World last year. I love those segments but I wonder if they’re going to go the way of other reality tv, with people doing them to launch media careers rather than for the simple pleasure of showing off their garden.
