Linnea is a pale pink mountain flower native to Scandinavia, named after the botanist who discovered it, Carl Linneaus, inventor of the the universally recognised system of classifying plants.
It is a beautiful flower.

fragaria doesn't do anything for me
like Luna(aria) and Linnea, but our surname begins with 'L', so might be too 'LL'y, if you know what I mean.
Orphys reminds me too much of Orpheus and his bad fate
Orchis, nice, but too exotic
Primulus, not bad, but faint whiffs of either victoriana or a primus stove
valeriana - a bit too much like valerie (although maybe it would be a sleepy baby!)
Viola, little too old fashioned
Lupinus, knew someone named Lupin who was difficult
Malus reminds me of 'bad' (malevolent)
Mimulus is nice (like Mim as a nickname)
Onopordum - too hard to pronounce
Salix - good for a boy!
Viscum, reminds me of viscous liquid
Galanthus - quite good
Miltonia - nickname milt -hmmm.

No, Linnea might go well with L surnmame, especially if you give her a middle name. Like Linnea Mimosa, or Linnea Galanthea, Linnea Isabel.. I love Linnea, if I ever had a girl....

I like Columbine, which is the old name for Aquilegia. I know it has associations with high school shootings now, but even so... Beautiful name.

fullmoonfiend - Tilia cordata is the name that started it all off, because when I was studying horticulture (pre-children) I joked with my dh that I would name a girl Tilia cordata.
I like a lot of these names, but do wonder if I would be doing the child a disfavour by giving her such an outlandish (dare I say it, boden-esque) name on my whim. What do you guys think?

You go for it, it's not too outlandish and can be shortened to Tilly (which is rather cute) if she objects to it in later years.
