Strange bird behaviour..

I have two goldfinches, I presume a ‘pair’ given the time of year?
That on and off all day today have been tweeting and flying about near my windowsill and recycle bins.

They are completely obsessed with that specific area, briefly going to eat the dandelion seeds elsewhere in the garden then returning back to the windowsill/bin area.

Does anyone know what might be happening?
Are they thinking of making a nest nearby or something?

Is there a fledging there?

Are they eating flies ?

Is there a fledging there?
I wouldn’t have thought so..
Perhaps I should go and have a really good look.
I haven’t noticed any activity at all (before today) that would suggest a nest or trapped fledgling and they don’t seem agitated/distressed at all.
Just happily flying about, going from the roof down to the bins/windowsill and repeat.

Are they eating flies ?
I don’t think so, goldfinches are seed eaters I believe

Maybe they’re just flirting then, and she’s playing hard to get !

They do often pick a spot, and that’s like their ‘stage’ to blast their song from. Are the acoustics good there?

We've had a bluetit doing similar today around one of the downstairs windows. I think it was picking dead flies out of cobwebs.
