I have just bought an acer , it was really expensive but i bought it as a memorial to my mum and she lived them. I am planting it in a big pot. The best space in my garden for it is a north facing wall. Gargen is fairly shielded from the wind. Nothing much grows that side of the garden and i obviously dont want to kill it 😱

Does it get any light during the day at all? Acers prefer partial shade. I have one in a north facing corner of the garden which is doing very well, but it does get 2-3 hours of light a day.

Mine have done their best south facing. Sorry! I got rid of the north facing one. It was straggly and sad. Moved it to south facing and it's done well. That's not to say yours won't be OK...My north is cold and windy. Mine are all in the ground.

I'm not an expert. I'm always taken aback when it comes into leaf. Such a gorgeous tree. Hope you find somewhere it will be happy.

I have two in a garden to the north of the house, about 3m from the house. Both doing fine. Direct sun before 6am and after 6pm at the appropriate time of year.
