The red flowered one with the flat leaves? I inherited it when I bought the house and my friend wants to know.

Can anyone tell me what this flower is?

It looks like it has geranium leaves. Perhaps geranium-macrorrhizum?

My friend thought it was a geranium. I’m convinced it’s more a coastal plant, which is why I don’t recognise it as live very far from the sea!

I think it might be a heuchera: www.jparkers.co.uk/heuchera-sanguinea-firefly-1019403c

I think you are right! Mine flowers early for some reason but it looks very much like it.

Yes, Heuchera, probably the variety called 'coral bells'

actiongirl1978 · 30/04/2021 19:14

It's lovely.

Just coming on to say my plant identifier app (which I love)
agrees on Coral Bells.

Also called crimson bells and fairly flower

It's very pretty!!

get yourself the Plantsnap app, i find it very useful, or there's one called Picturethis i dont have it but a professional gardener I know has it

The thing to remember about plant apps is they have no knowledge when they’re wrong. Always use them as a starting point not as a definitive answer

Agree-I have picture this.

The one good way to check is that is then shows you a picture of the plant it says it is so you can see if the images match.
Obviously nothing is failsafe but I love it-so interesting.
Gives lots of additional info etc

The good way to check is then to google the plant, see whether it actually occurs in the UK (or wherever you are), whether it's in flower at the he time of year you're looking at it, whether its amazingly rare, whether it's actually a shrub and you're looking at a creeper, etc And remember to compare not just the flower but also the leaves, growth habit etc..

are going to match because that's all the app goes on,
it doesnt
mean to say it's got the right plant
