What to do with this humdinger of a manhole cover in my lawn?

I have this 'beauty' in possibly the worst place in my lawn, not smack bang in the middle (or I'd put a bird bath on it), and not close enough the edge that I can incorporate it into a border and grow a ground cover plants over it. Its also higher than the surrounding lawn by an inch or two. I'm staring it it now, its the literally the first thing you see when looking at the garden from the kitchen table, delightfully framed by the patio door... grrrrrr! What on earth can I do to disguise/hide it?

You could get it lowered so it's at least the same level as the grass. I recently saw someone on my local FB page asking about the process with a similarly ugly manhole cover.

I would still put a bird bath or a bird table on it on it, or a pot with a spectacular floral display or a small tree. I would just make sure the pot wasn't too heavy to move if access was needed to the manhole.

Picnic table.

Is it in a location you could put an outdoor table and chairs?

Can you get it sunk? We have one with a sort of tray lid, filled with turf so it blends in.

Cover with a round stone slab, or paint, with bird bath or statue on top. Or maybe a big feature shrub in a huge pot.

If you try to lift it using the rim , is there a 4ft-ish deep hole lined by a heavy duty plastic pipe or is it brick or concrete ?

If it’s the plastic type , it can be cut (angle grinder) to lower the lid height.

You could then put a ‘square to round’ type cover on top and possibly put turf in the now square recessed lid.

Watching with interest as I have two of these delights in my garden since the landlord took up the decking.
