Where the heck are all the chimineas?

Just that really.

Everywhere has been out of stock for most of the year.

My local garden centre has one type - in exchange for £300 and it's as tall as me (nearly) so totally excessive.

Need to replace my rusting fire pit ASAP (can't find any of those either...)

Is it just me?

Huge demand for garden furniture and accessories for the people who never expected to spend so much time in it, combined with a slowdown of deliveries due to shops being closed.

Add the Suez issue in to complete the mess- your dream chiminea is probably in a shipping container somewhere!
We're waiting for retail stock of other goods where I work and have been told that the backlog will mean May/June earliest for items we should already have received.

I'll just have to keep looking and hoping 😒

Yes I haven’t seen them anywhere, been in a couple of different garden centres today, not seen one.

Most of our local garden centres still have a few (much fewer than normal) but obviously at garden centre prices and the selection is very hit or miss. Now the furniture on the other hand... they were sold out of everything. I ended up ordering a garden sofa online in February with delivery in April but they still don't have a delivery date from their supplier. Suspect a lot of it was stuck on the canal and is now stuck in the backlog at the ports Sad

There are big gaps in stock of lots of items at our local garden centres. I have been looking for metal plant supports, wooden plant labels, jute netting.. The answer is always ‘waiting for a delivery’.

I’d second places like b&q etc. They usually have loads. Also Amazon.

Knock on effect of the pandemic was reduced production in Asia then there have been issues with a shortage of shipping containers to get products to the west.

Make your own!

How rusted is your firepit? If it's surface rust, brush it with a wire brush and use stove/BBQ paint to refinish it.

I appreciate it might be past rescuing/you want something different though.

Note for anyone using a metal firepit, always empty the ashes out, they hold a lot of moisture in them and cause rust to form

SunflowerOwl · 22/04/2021 11:26

B&M have a few

SpringSquirrels · 22/04/2021 15:00

It's rusted through sadly.

Ah, that's too bad.

Hope you're able to find one soon.

We got ours from ebay. I’ve just checked, there’s loads available.
