Plants either side of front door (photos)

Name changed as very outing!

We are looking to get rid of the very old and raggedy standard rose trees on either side of the gate.

There are several other roses in the front garden, including two climbers.

I was thinking of two lollipop/standard box trees just above the railings. But the gardener suggested another two standard roses and instead to put box in pots either side of the front door. Or to have climbers through the railings.

However, due to the narrowness on either side of the front door there is little room for pots. Unfortunate, as I think something framing on both sides at the door would be lovely.

It’s south facing, sheltered but in Scotland!

The photos aren’t that clear, sorry! You can see the climbing roses on the wall but there are actually two standard rose trees in front of those just on either side of the gate and those are the ones we are looking to replace.
