Bareroot Roses

I have been gifted some bare-root rose bushes. I have currently put them in a pot filled with fresh damp compost in the shed to store them until we can clear the bed. How long will they keep for? When I plant them I know to soak them and have mycorrhizal powder to sprinkle over the roots but should we also enhance the soil? If so, with what?

I've just bought some from David Austin and wasn't able to plant them at the weekend as the ground was too wet and I couldn't dig out some unwanted perennials where I want to plant the roses. The bag states they'll be okay for a couple of weeks so I've just left them and have my fingers crossed it'll be drier this weekend. If you've potted yours, you need to make sure they don't dry out. Did you soak them for half an hour before potting them?

No put them straight in still in the compost they came with but did make sure compost was damp. Hopefully can plant at weekend.
