Hi, so I could do with some advice on what jobs to do around the garden. I have a patio, smallish area of grass, some trees and at the front one area which is chipping’s and another that is half chipping’s and half soil where I had some plants. Also a hedge at the front and back.

Feb plans

Jet wash the patio-done
Patio magic solution-need some dry weather
Cut hedges
Cut back trees, large acer and conifer type tree.
Fresh layer of wood chipping’s
Weeding
Weed killer?

March

Reseed the grass and feed it
General planting

Some of febs jobs are likely to go into March.

Any advice of anything else? What about planting? Are there any colour flowers in early bloom I can plant and change when required in the front and in pots?

Beware of cutting hedges and trees in the spring, it’s the major time for birds nesting and you could be acting illegally.
Colourful plants, readily available now are Primulas. Garden centres have strips of them on sale now. Also many sell spring bulbs in bud, which can be transplanted into pots. When they’re over the bulbs can be planted in the borders.

Good point. Will rethink the hedge. The acer has nothing on it just so that’s safe. Thanks for the advice on the plants and bulbs will have a look.
