So through financial circumstance we will be spending the next ten years in a house that is very very overlooked. I'm a massive novice gardener so could really do with some advice about what I should do to try to improve how overlooked it is.
Everything there currently can come out. I hate the row of standing soldiers (what I call those green bushy things.)
We have a budget of £1500 for plants. Ideally fast growing things but pretty and varied.
Can anyone help me as I feel so claustrophobic. Thank you so much

I think big dense conifer will feel overpowering, my in laws, v overlooked have just had a load of conifers taken out and have replaced with trellis, wafty trees (they paid a bit more for bigger). They had to improve the soil a lot where the conifers were taken out. It feels so much lighter but still has privacy.

Laurel....fast growing and creates a lovely hedge!

But Laurel are really wide, they'd take up a lot of ground space.

And laurel suckered like mad. Also if you run a hedge trimmer over them you get awful brown edged chopped leaves.

Just going to PM you OP.
