Just that. This is my fuchsia which comes up every year very late, but flowers until the frost. It's not hardy so it's a bit of a miracle plant here in the north of England. I just popped it in a couple of years ago as it was a shame to compost it and it surprises me with this each year.

@FLOrenze I love mature shrubs. So jealous of the Acer. No more room in my garden 😭

It is my favourite because, once the leaves have dropped, the stems turn bright scarlet and stay until spring. The plants behind it are Cronus midwinter fire, so it makes a really, cheerful corner all through the winter.

On the other side I have this Acer Griseum, snake bark Acer, which also has very interesting winter bark.
