hi, I have 2 hostas in pots which have now died back. What can I plant in the pots to provide some colour until the hostas grow back next year please?

I’d like to know, too! I have a bed of Hostas that is cold dry shady clay facing north. It looks lovely in the summer, full of their attractive foliage, but is a depressing bald patch in winter. I have three miniature conifers in it, but they’re rather unimpressive.

Would cyclamen work?

I’ve never had any success with cyclamen when I’ve tried growing them elsewhere (at the base of a 30 foot tree), but it might be worth a try.
They certainly flower at the right time and are v attractive.
According to Titchmarsh they have to be planted very shallow, or the stems rot - that might be my previous mistake, putting them too deep to avoid mice eating them!
