Has anyone done Rachel Matthews successful garden design course?

It looks good but costs and I want to make sure it is good. I'm thinking of doing it just to help me with our wide shallow garden.

I did get a quote from a designer who wanted to charge 750 just for a plan so this seems like a good option

Anyone?

Was hoping someone had commented, Hmm currently working on our garden. Just downloaded the first “free” part of the course. Unsure about it as although it may be good, I think I’d (at least) need to be prepared to potentially spend thousands!

Could you get a quote from another designer? One close to me in London said:
"Im happy to come and do a ‘consultation’, which is basically us walking round your garden discussing what can be done and how, where to find/buy things, how to do stuff, paint colours, planting suggestions, layout suggestions, materials, whatever. I charge a minimum of £180 for a consultation, which is roughly a 2 hour visit, or whatever I can get done in 3 hours including travel time… I can follow up with sketches, emails etc as required, for £60 per hour"

I would have done it to pay for her experience and knowledge of what works, but covid happened so I had a go myself.

Put a plan of your garden on a thread here and others could make suggestions, also where in the country you are, by the sea? Etc

Suzi888 · 10/09/2020 15:05

@Straven123 that’s a good idea! Can I put mine here please @gardenadvice or start my own thread? I don’t want to hijack! Grin

Still looking if anyone has done this course. It's reduced to 100 quid so may try it but would be good to have reviews thanks

Bump

Anyone?

wheft · 25/10/2020 09:34

@Suzi888 did you take the plunge?

I'm going to buy it so I'll let you know how I get on ...

Suzi888 · 25/10/2020 09:55

@wheft I didn’t, I had the free trial though. All the gardens looked flat, ours is really steep. There are parts that get no daylight at all and stay damp all year round.
We also need to complete all our fencing before I start on the ‘landscaping’ bit.
I did buy some plants for around our deck, but that was it.
We want one side sort of crazy paved, where we can burn wood/ have the occasional fire. Have a pathway down the garden, the conifer on the side will need to come down and bedding plants on the one side with perhaps a water feature. Still very much a work in progress!

Hi @wheft just wondered if you or @Suzi888 ended up doing the course & if so what you thought of it? It looks good, but I can't find any reviews of it except on the web page. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
