Hydrangea

I have most amazingly beautiful white hydrangea blooming in my garden. I'd love to have it as a cut flower in my house, but it doesn't work. I tried to cut it really short, but still it's not drinking water and wilt within 2 days. Any tips to keep them longer as a cut flower?

Watching with interest. Took cutting if a hydrangea nigra this morning. They seem to be holding up for now but from memory they only lasted a day or two last year.

I cut them in the morning put straight into water as I cut and smash the stems a bit before arranging - dip in hot/boiling water is recommended but I'm not sure how much difference that makes.
