Is it too late to grow Dahlias now ?

We have moved to a new home in April. Me being a enthusiatic beginner, sowed some Dahlia seeds end of July and they have begun to germinate. Now reading up that I should have started early. Is there still hope for me to see it flower ?

Should I just avoid plating them oustide directly and grow them in pots instead, so that I can bring them inside during winters ?

They'll flower next year.

I grow mine in pots. But I do repot them when I bring them in, so I suppose it'd be no more work and less storage space if I sim[ply over-wintered the tubers. There again, repotting in the autumn means I don't have to pot them up at a busy time in the gardening year, and if I don't get round to repotting, they're still OK - I just check a handful of slow-release fertiliser pellets at them.
