Ride on or Robot.

We’ve recently moved house and have a wrap around lawn and a separate lawn to the front in total about 1.6 acres.
My bil swears by his robot, but my gut feeling is a ride on...
But tbh I’ve no clue up until now I’ve a man turn up who mowed my old smaller lawn once a week and didn’t need to think about it...

What are the pros and cons of either?

We moved to house with huge lawn area. Didn't consider robot as I like it done in one go, have dogs and kids so need to make sure lawn is clear at one point and they get it chopped. I calculated the cost of getting it cut by someone and it was much better value.

We bought a ride on and it's brill. We don't collect trimmings as they are fine and redistributed over lawn, takes about 10-15 mins and the kids sit with my husband as he goes round. Plus this year we've decided to keep some longer bits as a wildlife friendly / artistic style which we couldn't do with robot. Weeeee!
