It's like a weed and has taken over a office building, climbed a tree and is just lovely. Can anyone please identify it?

Looks like a rose

There is something of Daphne about it. Is there a climber?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 16/07/2020 20:20

Wild rose?

Ducksurprise · 16/07/2020 20:37

It certainly climbs well, it's massive, I can't find the root but it covers about a third of a mile, I guess more than one plant but it's spread very quickly as it wasn't there when I started four years ago. I really want to know what it is as I want to know how to take a cutting. I need it.

It's a rose, I don't know which variety. I'd just use the standard methods for taking cuttings, I don't think there's anything special about rose cuttings. Try googling RHS cuttings - RHS advice is usually good.

We have something very similar. Ours is an old fashioned climbing rose, like this one -

Camellia, not sure which one though! Try c. x williamsii or similar Smile

It looks like a camellia to me, too.

'Tis a rose - clearly a very vigorous one! No idea of which cultivar though, could be one of many dozen!

As MereDint suggests, just try taking some cuttings using basic techniques, bung them around the edge of a pot filled with gritty compost or plenty of perlite and see what happens🙂
