Lettuce help

Hello i got given some lettuce seedlings for free. Can anyone tell me from the pics what variety they are? Do i cut the leaves to eat now or dig up as a full lettuce? Sorry im totally clueless?

They look like butterhead lettuce. I'd grow them on until they're bigger heads of lettuce.

Are they now in the ground?
We always cut them as young leaves, the danger of letting them heart up ( like a shop bought lettuce) is that if there’s a dry spell they will bolt and produce a flower stalk. Then you can’t eat them.
Cutting as young leaves they are sweeter and have more flavour. It’s easy to sow seeds and have another crop ready in a few weeks, we do this almost all the year round.

Thankyou for your replies Smile. I originally put them in seedling trays, then the bigger pots which they are in now. I wasnt sure whether to move them into my new 'lockdown made' raised beds to see if they got bigger or leave them where they are.
