What's this growing in my chilli plant?

Plant ID app suggests a birch? Dont know where it would have come from.

Could be birch. the seeds are dispersed by wind.

It certainly looks like it. Are the stems faintly hairy?

I once had a random birch and some heather germinate in a pot I'd filled with soil from a bag of ordinary garden centre compost.

Thanks both - there was a small twiggy stick when I repotted from the original garden centre tiny pot but I thought it was part of the chilli plant - clearly not!

I guess I should pull it up as it's likely to crowd out my yoghurt tub! I might replant it somewhere and see how it does though.
