I ordered a geum pink petticoats but I think I have been sent something else in error now its started to flower, maybe a type of hardy geranium? Just wanted to see if anyone can properly id it before I contact the company. Pictures attached.

That's not pink petticoats, definitely a hardy geranium, I've got some in my garden. Don't know the name though as I dug up a bit from my mums.

Yes, definitely a hardy geranium. I've just got one called Patricia which looks very similar, but there are so many hardy geraniums it's impossible to tell.

Although ... are we talking about the pink flowers in the centre of the photo? They're a geranium, possibly Patricia, but there's geum foliage just behind.

The purple flower yes. I planted what I thought were 2 geums next to each other. The back one is 'totally tangerine'. Well supposedly anyway. Will check when i get flowers! Good that the foliage looks geum like comebackintothegardenmaud. The question is on the other plant though.

Glad people think hardy geranium too. I am getting better at this plant stuff over lockdown Grin.

It is very pretty so happy with it.....its just not what I ordered. Will go back and see if they can send me a geum still.

It will look stunning once Totally Tangerine flowers - purple-pink and orange is one of my favourite combos for bold planting!

Thanks. I hope so! I am not good at themes but if I was going to describe it it would be bright and cheerful, anything goes! I can always move it next year if it doesnt work...

Mine too, Maud! I’ve got orange geums (don’t know name) in pot with alpine phlox, & also cosmos next to them 😊 (Actually the phlox seems to have given up flowering for now)

Fabulous photo, but you have reminded me of the pain of having all my cosmos seedlings eaten by snails. ::weeps softly::

GiantKitten · 22/06/2020 00:43

Sorry Maud Sad
I’ve had whole marigold/tagetes plants eaten by slugs so I share your pain

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/06/2020 00:55

It's alright. I did that lockdown thing of retrieving all the ancient packets of seed from the shed, some didn't germinate but some (like the cosmos) germinated very well. I was just congratulating myself on my amazing gardening skills when the molluscs moved in ...
