Potted flowering plants or trees for a shaded area

Hi all

I have an area that is always in the shade.

It's flagged. I could only put pots down as it's the area that opens from my French doors into the back garden.

I would love to brighten it up.

Has anyone got any knowledge of any plants or small trees that would do well in pots, big planters etc that would flourish there. It's shaded 100% of the time.

Tia

You might find something here

I'd recommend a fatsia Japonica - they are tough as old boots, don't seem to mind the shade, and grow lovely and big and lush quite quickly. Ferns and hostas also look lovely in pots in shade.

These lists are pretty good:

If you can afford it, a tree fern would look amazing with Fatsia japonica and some smaller ferns.

You could get a trough/large planter and make a mix as there's quite a bit that will flower, all at different times. That way it's a bit interesting and changes throughout the year.
