Where to buy reasonably priced plants

Hi,

Looking for some low lying shrubs/perennial flowering plants to fill in our front garden

Don't want to spend loads and ideally would like to pick up in person rather than buying online

I know you get what you pay for but what sort of experience have people had of plants from places like Wickes, B&Q, B&M? Or similar!

Thanks!

Morrison's are very reliable if you are near one. We have bought lots recently from a B&M garden centre, a bit hit and miss as there were some poor quality/neglected plants amongst the fabulous bargains, but we found some amazing very large foxgloves, 3 for £10, healthy and beautiful dahlias, scabious, lavenders, healthy herbs and lots more.

Lidl plants (near me anyway) are much better cared for than my local Aldi's and often good value. I visited a garden centre a few days ago and was horrified by the prices eg one foxglove plant identical to one of the 3 for £10 at B&M, was £14.99 😳

Morrison’s is very good value
I think B and Q is over priced

Surprisingly we got some good perennials at B and Q the other day that were reasonably priced so they have good stock in our local one at the moment. In normal circumstances I would go to a local nursery (not a fancy garden centre) though as they tend to have a good choice for perennials, shrubs etc

Morrison's are good, and cheap, but they aren't very established plants so need a bit of nurturing. Lidl's plants are consistently the best I've bought. I've got trailing geraniums from last year that survived the winter and are thriving again.

I find more choice at Morrisons especially for shrubs and climbers ,you're right they're only little .But mine have always thrived .

Symphoricarpus /mother of pearl and Viburnum tinus that I picked up for a couple of pounds are doing well ,fully established a year on .

Lidls are good but the plants don't seem to be named .I can identify a lot of the common ones but I'm no expert and am often stumped /buy blind .
