Reckon this verbena has any life in it?

Came through the post as part of a container collection. 4 verbenas, 2 healthy, 1 totally dead looking and then this one which looks dead but the stalk at the bottom looks green. (The dead looking one just has brown stalk all the way down.)

Um, probably not.

Depends how good the roots are I think. Always worth a shot in my view!

Not looking good, but I wouldn't give up on it. Cut off as much of the rotten bits as you can whilst still leaving a plant and hope for the best. You'd be surprised what sometimes comes back from the dead in the plant world!

Hmm. I frequently rescue things from the shelf of doom, but that doesn't look promising. I'd follow onalongsabbatical's suggestion of cutting off the brown, crispy bits, put it somewhere where it will get some sun without being scorched and hope for the best.

Thanks. I’ll cut to the green and hope for the best! I’m optimistic with this things - I found a small Camellia in the garden the other day that I’d “dug up” years ago because it just hadn’t ever flowered so I put something else in its place. A decade later up it pops! So going to have to try and save that one even though it’s probably intermingled with the pyracantha I planted in its place.

Always worth trying OP. Good luck little verbena! Smile
