If you have one of those hanging egg chair things

How much clearance would you say is required around it? As in, does it swing much / blow around in the wind? Particularly the one from B&M. I really want one but the space I have is small and I'm just not sure it would work. I can see it smashing into the wall and fence. But I really really want one! Grin

I have one, it's a 2 person sized one though, not sure what size you are looking at. But in my experience it doesn't really move around much in the wind.

We've had a couple of pretty bad storms in the last couple of weeks and even then it wasn't flying around. It's pretty close to a tree (Christmas tree type, rather than bare trunk) and I don't think it ever swings enough to hit it with any force.

I take the cushions off when I know bad weather is coming to keep them out of the rain, and I think the wind mostly goes through the chair if that makes sense! You'd probably have some protection from the wind from your wall and fence too.

Interested as I am thinking of buying the one from B&M too.

I have a hanging chair like that. It’s not the B&M one, but mine barely moves.

I’ve put the base right next to the house and, as far as I can tell, the actual chair bit never touches the house. I live on the coast and we get some serious wind speeds, so if I don’t have an issue you’ll probably be fine!

WisestIsShe · 30/05/2020 15:59

What do you do with it in the winter? Does it need to be covered over?

Crazzzycat · 30/05/2020 17:31

I keep mine outside without a cover. It’s a few years old and I can’t really see much in the way of damage 🙂

We've got a double (not B&M). It doesn't swing that much however the whole thing has gone over in strong winds more than once, we've had to anchor it into the soil now. You need somewhere dry to store the cushions in wet weather.

I’d say couple of feet front and back at most. Seriously, get one - it’s the most chilled feeling after some hard graft to sink into it with a chilled glass of wine.

Am guessing it’s a rattan type seat? I’ve had mine six years. No need for a cover (they just create awesome conditions for multiple spider homes). Mine has been open to the elements all the time (south east coast). Just give it a quick clean with pressure washer at start of each season.

At the end of autumn (or on “unexpected” gale-type days) I simply unhook the egg seat from the metal base and lay the seat on the ground to keep it safe.

It's got a little strap to connect the chair to the frame to stop it swinging about too much. I've noticed mine blowing about a fair amount recently but then it's been exceptionally windy. Still not excessive.

Mine is the single b and m one and you won't regret it if you buy it, it's beautiful and so so comfy

Just ordered a couple from Aldi, really looking forward to them coming.

Sold out in Aldi Sad Sent DH to a 2 B&M's locally and they were sold out there too and can't get them online at the prices similar to Aldi/B&M. If anyone does find please post the link - TIA

B&m have been selling them for at least a couple of years I imagine it's just everyone using their gardens at the moment!

Make sure you have a BIG car to collect it in. Hold out for the b and m one though its lovely
