Apricot tree dying/unhappy - peach tree borer or canker

We have a beautiful and much loved apricot tree in our garden. I noticed it wasnt flowering as vigorously as last year and the ends of branches were dying. Looking closely, a number of the branches are seeping amber sap, and theres one bit on the trunk. Looking online it could be peach tree borer or cytosporer canker, neither of which look like good news! Rather annoyed now with neighbour who hacked away at the branches on their side with old secateurs without mentioning to me so I could do it properly but that's another story...

Anyone any ideas which it is? Attached photos.
