Cheapest way to add a water feature to small Japanese garden?

Has anyone added a small water feature?

I don’t have power or plumbing outside so would prefer something that can run on solar power.

It’s a small Japanese garden with a dry riverbed and lots of Japanese maples and other shrubs but it’s just missing that little bit of trickling water

There are some lovely books about Japanese gardening, and a couple I've got have some nice ideas for water features. 'Japanese Gardening and Growing Bonsai' by Charles Chesshire and Ken Norman might be a good one.

In many Japanese gardens though they don't have running water, but have a small water basin ( tsukubai ) instead.

Small pump and some bamboo canes to run a trickle down, like a mini gutter pipe? A solar pump won’t get much power but bamboo is thin and you can drop it off the end into a pool. You can cut canes in half with a saw and hollow out the joints.
