Leatherjackets

Hi all.
Any suggestions for getting rid of the leatherjackets that are eating my grass and more daddy long legs are appearing daily. I’ve used one pack of nematodes so far, but my neighbours have confirmed they have them as well (my garden is bordered on all sides by other gardens) should I do another pack of nematodes or give up and put fake grass down?!!!

You could try this (I'm assuming it's not a huge lawn if the fake grass idea was at all serious)

In smaller lawns the best method is to flush leatherjackets out by saturating the soil with water in the evening and covering the surface with a tarpaulin or a black plastic sheet. By morning the leatherjackets will be lying on the surface and can be collected and destroyed or left for the birds.

Making your garden bird-friendly (esp to blackbirds and starlings, I would think) might help?
