I have two plants and I don't know what they are.

I feel like the first one might be some sort of tree?

Definitely not foxglove, the leaves are similar but the flowers are totally different.

For comparison

Ah. I've got both in my garden.

Yep, maple (Acer) and alkanet. I have both of them, not through choice. The alkanet roots go deep and than spread horizontally, they'll start popping up everywhere. The leaves do look a lot like foxglove, but they are covered in little hairs that can irritate the skin if you rub them. That's how I tell the difference until the flowers show.

Namechange fail there... that explains your comment Grin

We have green alkanet in our garden. Loads of people local to us have it and it is very invasive. If you don’t want it, dig it up (there is a long root) and dispose of it, don’t compost it. Now that it’s flowered, it will spread even more. Use gloves as it is an irritant. I know that people say that a weed is just a plant growing in a place that you don’t want it to grow in, but green alkanet is very invasive indeed and it is a real pain imo. Digging it up and staying on top of it for the next couple of months will work to stop it spreading.

@WellTidy thanks for that, that's really helpful. I'll make sure to put my gloves on when I dig it out tomorrow.
