I need a quick temporary fence before I lose my poop

I was planning to get a new fence put in last month so pulled down the plants and old fence between neighbour and me.
Now, obvs, we’re in lockdown and my neighbour’s 700 kids are horrors, bless em.
I’m losing my mind.
They throw stuff in my garden, get my washing dirty/wet, scream questions at me etc, and I’m getting a wee bit pissed off with it.

How can I quickly get a temporary screen? I can’t find those rolls online. There is a small chain-link between us but I need something tall.

Thank you for making me laugh by saying poop so politely.

Are there are any builders yards open near you? That’s the only way I can think of something tall.

Unless you buy screens on eBay. The rattan ones might have a way of being fixed down in to the ground.

Any wooden pallets lying around?

UterusUterusGhali · 02/04/2020 12:28

No pallets, and I don’t think my usual Pallet Acquisition Method seems a bit norty at this time (driving round the industrial estate and taking them)

I haven’t tried builder’s merchants right enough. I know the garden centre bit of B&Q is taped off. :(

My local garden centre is delivering. You could ring yours?

SavoyCabbage · 02/04/2020 12:31

My neighbour had a fence put in this week, maybe you could find someone still working. I'd try that before spending money on temporary solutions.

steppemum · 02/04/2020 12:31

those bamboo screens that can roll up? Not great in the wind. They stand about 5 foot high

AutumnRose1 · 02/04/2020 12:32

Are you town or rural?

Just thinking if you know anyone who might have sone mad stuff lying around. I used to have a rattan screen. Don’t know how large an area you’re trying to cover.

Stupid little scrotes. I’d be tempted to gather up their stuff in a bag and dump it on the doorstep.

ValiaH · 02/04/2020 12:35

Wilkinsons or wickes may deliver fence panels?

UterusUterusGhali · 02/04/2020 17:01

I honestly don’t think I could put up a fence by myself. The ground is rubble (new build)

Thank you tho I’ll try the builders merchants.

I wonder if there’s a plant that will grow mega fast

If you can get hold of a tall spiky plant or two, would that help?

UterusUterusGhali · 03/04/2020 10:05

I think tall plants might help. It was sparse hedge before but I took that all down to get the fence in. :(
I am rural but that also means people will get all judgy if I go ferreting for building supplies.

I’ve found what I want in B&Q but they’re not “available” so it’ll have to be the roll of stuff

Argos is still delivering

UterusUterusGhali · 03/04/2020 10:55

Oh my local garden centre is constantly engaged! I’m glad they’re busy. :)

I’m in exactly the same position - but the fence that’s down is my neighbours responsibility ... i’m wondering if a rattan screen is a responsible purchase (in terms of delivery) or maybe even just tacking up some sort of tarp ...

CanadaPolice · 03/04/2020 11:14

Chicken wire and stakes are relatively cheap if you can find it.

Movinghouseatlast · 05/04/2020 10:51

Primrose have fence panels.

Stompythedinosaur · 19/04/2020 10:35

I've just made a super easy fence from chicken wire and stakes (to stop my greedy ducks from eating the veg). You could try that, and maybe fix screening to it if you want the dc out if sight? I got everything I needed on Amazon.

Northernsoullover · 19/04/2020 10:39

Pyrocanthus will solve all your problems. Unfortunately it takes years to get to a decent height.

PrimalLass · 22/04/2020 15:49

Some gardeners may be working and they could put a fence up.

Atalune · 22/04/2020 15:53

Russian vine is a pretty punk flower climbing plant. It’s invasive and grows like stink so you’ll need to be ruthless about it. But it will grow FAST

Windyatthebeach · 22/04/2020 15:53

My ds is army trained. He could lay some explosives.. Few land mines maybe?
Hire him as a sniper?
