Lavender hedge

As a rubbish gardener I am proper chuffed with my lavender hedge, but it needs pruning. Googling this suggests I do it with secateurs. This would take me about a week. 😩 Can I set about it carefully with a hedge trimmer?

Do you just need bigger secateurs? It won't take a week unless there is a kilometre of it.

Hehe.... you’re gonna need a bigger boat. I have broken the back of it but it looks like it’s been done by a blind man on a galloping horse.

Grab a handful of stems and apply the secateurs just below your hand. You don't need to cut each stem separately. It's still tedious, but not as bad as you suggest.

I wouldn't use a powered hedge trimmer on it, but you could use a pair of shears.

Cut it back quite severely but not below where there are little green shoots coming out of the stem, else it might not grow back.
