I don't care what anyone says about buddleia...

Sure, it can get scraggy and needs a lot of pruning and deadheading.

But yesterday I found an elephant hawk moth caterpillar on mine, and today it is smelling lovely and alive with butterflies - red admiral, peacock, comma, painted lady, and some whites, I think probably just large and small cabbage whites.Smile

I've got a lot of sedums for them for later. Any other recommendations?

Yes I LOVE my buddleias too, 2 years ago I found an amazing butterfly on mine it was a zebra striped Y tailed ( I googled it and it said they're found on papya plants) I'm a long way from a papya plant!! I think!

I haven't seen one since though Sad. They are also easy to propagate, I'm proud of myself because I actually managed to do it by cuttings. Even though I was away for 2 weeks in the heat and dh is not to be trusted with watering! he's killed quite a few of the michelmas daisies.

For later hmmm; ivy flowers, wild clematis (i have to be positive about the clematis, it's taken over!) asters\michelmas daisies.

I love them as well not managed to kill one yet. Ive got 6 established, well two were Groupon deals that turned out to not be the colour I'd ordered so had to get the one I wanted, so that accounts for three.

I've also planted a couple this year, the yellow one is just starting to flower.

Mine seems to be covered in bees. The bumbles get right down inside the plant, not sure why as the pollen is up top

We just seem to have the standard butterflies but cant managed to get a good photo

Mine is massively overgrown and covered in bees and butterflies, and smells lovely.

Most of mine are towering over me, two I would say are 8ft, and all grown on this year as they get cut down each spring

Too high to get a photo - I've just been outside again and seen a red admiral, peacock and painted lady all on the same bloom.Smile

The verbenas seem popular too, and the White butterflies like the purple loosestrife.

Finally got a picture of a butterfly
