What plant for a pot by the front door

I have just found a decent size pot which I had forgotten I'd hidden behind the shed. I'm planning on putting it near the front door. I alreqdy have a few pots there with bedding plants. I would like this to be low maintenance and preferably with year round interest.
What should I choose? The pot is blue glaze which may impact on choice. It will get full sun.

How big is the pot? You could go for layers e.g. bulbs for spring then other herbaceous plants or just a lavender.

I have just planted a Daphne in a pot either side of my south facing front door. They are evergreen but flower with the most amazing scent in late winter/early spring - honestly, it stopped me in my tracks went I smelt it the first time.

You could plant a few more annuals underneath to give it some more summer interest.

In full sun, for year round interest, I would recommend an escallonia pink Elle. Evergreen, flowers in July and August with lovely pink flowers. Grows to about one metre by one metre. Mine is two years old and full size. It is full of flower now.
