A beauty!

Any advice is very much welcomed and appreciated Halloween Smile
And it is safe to assume that I know very little and am guilty of planting things because they're pretty Halloween Blush

Bud, we're all learning all the time! The one thing I realised from the horticulture training was how very very much there was to learn, and much more that science doesn't know either! You just learn as you go along.

I am also guilty of buying plants because they're pretty, and also of planting them too close together because I can't believe they'll grow as big as the description says they will Blush plus other things that I should know better about but don't - the shame! Grin

Love the roses! Yes my plants are squashed together too Grin
Here's some aster konch

@TheNoodlesIncident I've just remembered that my roses that you described as healthy are 'carpet roses' and disease resistant - that was one of the reasons why I planted them Halloween Grin
Although I have some in white too and I have noticed some minor little black spots on them Halloween Hmm

@hoochymamgu The Aster is so pretty!

Beautiful colours @FranneKipankinstein And another plant that I'm not familiar with, so look forward to googling! 🍂 Halloween Smile

Fothergilla has nice flowers too Always. Try googling Euonymus alatus, winged spindle, for a hint of autumn colour Wink. I'm thinking of buying one of these, just need to find somewhere for it to go...

I love that aster, hooch, is it generally free from mildew? Been avoiding them because of that but I really like them and I'm sure I can squeeze one or three in somewhere

FranneKipankinstein · 25/10/2019 23:51

There is a photo of mine from Saturday 1610 @TheNoodlesIncident !

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 26/10/2019 09:13

It's gorgeous. And that's exactly why I'd love to have beech - to see the colours change.
Kudos to the person who trimmed it, it's very straight StarHalloween Grin

Gosh I missed that in your photo Blush Is it a quick grower @FranneKipankinstein? Looks great there, you've got a good eye for planting!

i've recently bought Potentilla Klondyke too, to replace an unfortunate one that had been so overgrown by other vigorous plants that it just kinda gave up, poor thing. The original one wasn't Klondyke, but the flowers are a lovely rich gold so it will uplift that bit of border and echo the yellow of the climbing rose above it. (This makes me sound more organised than I am...)

Here's a photo of Scentsational, which looks pretty but wasn't as strongly scented as I'd been led to believe. Still nice though!

It might have been there 20 years now. It did not do the spectacular colour change to start. It took many years @TheNoodlesIncident .
