What do put in this small shady area outside my front door?

We've just had a large and half dead heather removed from this area immediately outside our front door which has let a huge amount of light into the hall & opened up the front but left a muddy patch of nothing that needs filling. Very little (if any) sun reaches this spot and it's quite a shallow bed. We are also about to put our house on the market so looking for an instant fix rather than slow burner.

Any suggestions? I'd rather avoid just gravelling it as my cats will inevitably relocate their toilet there!!

I'd pop to the garden centre and see what they have that fits the size you want and just plant it in there.

Meant to add photos Smile. A trip to the garden centre is definitely in order but it's just so overwhelming I'm not really sure where to start looking.

I’d dig it over add some compost and put in. Hydrangea and some Cranesbill geraniums.
They’ll both flower through the summer without much attention, apart from watering.
