When do they start putting on new growth?

I had one in a pot that did dreadfully, too small a pot in too hot of a site I think.

DH planted it in open ground instead but nearly all it’s leaves went a bit crispy, most fell off.

I snapped a twig off the poor sod yesterday to double check it’s definitely dead before I pull it out and bin in but it’s still green!

Which I assume means it’s alive...

When will it put on new growth?

Mine are pushing out new growth now. Is it in a fairly sheltered spot?

Uh oh.
Maybe it is destined to die soon then...

No, it’s in full sunshine in open ground and no real root competition.

The plan was to dig it up and replace with a new one but we haven’t because despite no new growth it’s still alive and I’m clinging into hope...

No - leave it alone, and don't prune it - just wait. It still has green, and suffered a hard time last year. So it could take a while to recover, so don't give up yet. I'd give it another year at least before you give up on it totally.

Mine have literally only started growing on this week, and they are in pots on a very warm west-facing patio in the shelter of the house wall. And they haven't had the setback yours had.

Okay, I will leave well alone.

Fingers crossed it makes a full recovery!

Watching!

Smile I reckon you might see a tiny shoot or two in about three weeks.

They do back-bud from old wood, but at the end of the day they are a mediterranean species and sometimes they just can't handle our climate very well.
