Privacy Plants

Can anyone advise the best type of bush, plant or tree that would help give us a bit of privacy? We’ve a large gap along a brick dividing wall and our neighbours can too easily peer over. Thinking something that would reach at least 6ft? Wondering what the quickest growing plants would be too?

Thanks!

Bamboo
Especially if you don't like them 😂

Pyracantha. It is evergreen and has beautiful berries. You can buy them already at 6 feet and they are not very expensive.

How annoying having nosy neighbour's peering through!

Forsythia.
Photinia.
Vibernum.
Philadelphus.

Cherry tree
Crab apple

Or put up some trellis with something thick like honeysuckle.

These are wonderful suggestions, thank-you. Would I need to worry about a Pyracantha’s thorns with little uns running about the garden?

Another option could be a beech hedge - they retain their dry brown leaves until march/april when the fresh new green leaves come through and block all view. Not as impenetrable in winter as cypress/leylandii but better for wildlife and birds and let some light through but retain privacy.

I have lots of pyracantha and none of the children have hurt themselves on them

I think the Pyracantha is a great suggestion, thanks. I love the prospect of attracting more birds. A Philadelphus is a must somewhere else in the garden too. 😊
