I’m digging this up as it seems to have taken over then realised it might be a nice ground cover plant.

Anyone know what it is? And is it a menace?

Thanks

Looks like an aquilegia of some sort. They self seed and spread like wildfire. It isn’t a weed, afaik.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 18/11/2018 14:35

Does it flower? Aquilegias usually have quite nice flowers, there are loads of different types though but they all seem to have that clover-esque foliage.

It looks like some sort of wild geranium to me; a bit like this

Looks like it could be Geranium lucidum. Has small pink flowers in the summer. Can be quite invasive and is generally considered to be a weed rather than a garden plant

Not sure that it’s aquilegia, I do have some and this seems to be much more low growing. It’s not the wild geranium though I do have that in my lawn! I think I’ll keep digging it up. Thank you!

Def not aquilegia

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 18/11/2018 17:59

Fair enough. I’m no gardening expert Grin

I've asked a group of gardening experts that I'm in and they agree with me - Geranium lucidum

EeeSheWasThin · 18/11/2018 22:33

Runs that’s it! Dug the wretched thing out 😀

Thank you.
