..... it was a beautiful moment . The DDs will be gutted they've missed it and they've gone.

Beautiful isn't it? We've not had robins but the Blue Tits very obligingly used the nesting box right outside the kitchen window so we've had a birds eye (sorry) view. Saw them fledge two weeks ago - lovely moment.

Great isn't it. It's the second lot of babies this spring and they nested right by our patio doors. I'm sitting at the table doing paperwork (and mumsnetting of course!) and just suddenly saw them drop down onto the ground, one after the other. It's surprising they choose to nest so close to our houses isn't it.

lovely

Ds (8) is soppy about robins (which is fine, of course) and we did some googling and found some videos of robin fledgings learning to fly. They were gorgeous - with sprays of left-over baby feathers like fluffy crests, and trying so hard to flap their wings that all they did was spin round and round on the spot

We had wrens in the porch and great tits & blue tits under the eaves of the log store. The DCs adored watching them but they have all gone now. (It's much quieter though!)
