Winter window boxes

Any ideas? Winter pansies last year were very poor. Polyanthus were ok eventually. I need better ideas please if anyone's got some.

I’ve never had a great deal of success with winter pansies. I plant up my boxes with miniature daffodils which look really nice in bloom - but not so good before! I’m watching this with interest.

Yes I'm short on ideas. The little bulbs are good but I need some colour leading up to Christmas. Ive potted some small ivies for greenery and, thinking for first time here, I should have grown on some small hebes but havent so will get a tray of small conifers. But colour is what I need to add! My summer ones are nearly over and I dont like to leave them empty.
